Position Summary:

The Deli and Sausage Production Lead Hand supports the Deli Manager in overseeing daily production and operations in the deli department. The Lead Hand works alongside the team to prepare, package, and merchandise deli products while maintaining a clean, organized workspace. This role ensures high-quality food preparation, efficient workflow, and adherence to food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Production & Operations

  • Lead and participate in daily deli production, including cutting, deboning, grinding, slicing and smoking meat products and sausage creation.
  • Ensure recipes, portioning, and presentation meet company standards.
  • Monitor product freshness, rotation, and inventory levels.
  • Support the organization of daily production tasks to meet demand.
  • Assist in ordering and receiving deliveries as required.

Team Leadership

  • Provide hands-on support, training, and guidance to deli team members.
  • Act as the shift lead when the Deli Manager is absent.
  • Promote teamwork, efficiency, and a positive work environment.

Food Safety & Cleanliness

  • Ensure all food handling and sanitation standards are met according to company and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized production area, equipment, and displays.
  • Conduct temperature checks and complete required logs.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in a deli, food production, or food retail environment. Previous lead or supervisory experience is required.
  • Must have an active Food Safe Level 1 certification.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Flexibility to work mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 40 lbs and working in cold environments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
