The Role:

The technical Architect responsible for implementing and maintaining technical aspects of network infrastructure, business continuity and disaster recovery plans. It involves updating technical architectures, integrating technology solutions, evaluating hardware and software performance and leading design and implementation efforts to ensure system reliability and efficiency.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Implement technical aspects of network maintenance and improvement plans.
  • Maintain and upgrade all technical components of the network infrastructure.
  • Maintain and enhance technical aspects of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.
  • Perform ongoing maintenance and updates to existing and evolving technical architectures.
  • Ensure seamless integration of all technology solutions.
  • Evaluate hardware and software to ensure they meet requirements, identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements for system performance.
  • Design and produce detailed technical designs and diagrams for updated systems.
  • Support implementation and ongoing operation of updated systems.
  • Design and provide implementation support for remote user stations.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and users to troubleshoot issues and implement fixes.
  • Update and create system descriptions and diagrams based on new designs, configuration changes or updated components.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly status/progress reports, including:
  • Activities completed during the reporting period.
  • Planned activities for the next reporting period.
  • Issues requiring attention from the Technical Authority.
  • Summary of time worked.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • 10+ years of experience as a Technical Architect.
  • 4+ years of experience working on a classified system for the Government of Canada.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing and supporting VMware Enterprise Virtualization Infrastructure (VirtualCenter/vCenter, vSphere/ESX) in production environments.
  • Experience planning, deploying, and administering Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments using VMware View or VMware Horizon.
  • Experience designing, implementing and supporting Backup and Replication Services within a VMware virtualized environment.
  • Strong knowledge of network technologies and concepts such as routing, subnets and VLANs.
  • Experience administering Microsoft Server 2016 or above, including Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (GPO).
  • Proficiency with Windows 10 or above desktop operating systems, including imaging, deployment and OS hardening in enterprise environments.
  • Experience administering Microsoft Exchange 2016 or above mail systems.
  • Hands-on experience with centralized enterprise antivirus systems (Symantec Endpoint Protection, McAfee ePO/Trellix ePO).
  • Familiarity with firewall configuration and management.
  • Ability to create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Test Procedures and Implementation Plan documentation.
