At Can-Traffic Services, our mission is to "Safely Guide Families Home." We specialize in the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control systems, including traffic signals, pedestrian crossovers, street lighting, flashing beacons, and other advanced traffic electrical devices.

We are currently seeking Apprentice Electricians to join our construction and maintenance teams. In this role, you will assist experienced Journeypersons in all aspects of traffic signal construction and maintenance while gaining hands-on experience in a highly specialized field.

What you will do Everyday

  • Install, maintain, and repair traffic signal systems, street lighting, pedestrian crossovers, flashing beacons, and other electrical traffic devices.
  • Operate a variety of vehicles and equipment, including bucket trucks, digger derricks, skid steers, and mini excavators, along with various hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records, including material inventories and daily activity logs.
  • Inspect, clean, and maintain company vehicles and equipment.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure the quality, compliance, and safety of all company assets.

Skills Required

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of machinery, tools, and equipment used for traffic cabinet and roadway lighting installation and repair.
  • Ability to perform physical labour and work in various weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work days, nights, and out-of-town assignments as required.
  • Strong computer literacy.

Qualifications Needed

  • Valid Apprentice or Journeyman Electrician Certification.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License, with submission of a 5-year Driver's Abstract showing fewer than 6 demerits.
