Continental Cartage a Division of Landtran Systems Inc is seeking a Dispatcher, to coordinate truck loads and to operations to maximize the company's profit while ensuring an adequate income and safe working environment for the operators.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS – Duties and Responsibilities

DISPATCH – 60%

  • Answer calls from drivers to record information on where their current location is and the hours that they are available
  • Dispatch loads to drivers and record load in a Excel sheet
  • Ensure drivers have the proper equipment to haul the required load
  • Build relationships with Drivers that require on current dispatch prior to the scheduled pickup and delivery
  • High attention to detail scheduling and confirming the dispatch for border crossing with the necessary permits and documentation
  • Liaison with the the client and the driver for excellent service

ADMINISTRATION – 20%

  • Take orders from customers and create Probills
  • Ensure all required information is accurate and rating is included in every Probill
  • Support Accounts Receivable to ensure payment terms are adhered to
  • Track necessary KPI to ensure the company is moving towards targets
  • Complete billing and scanning of documents to ensure timely invoicing to customers
  • Other duties assigned as needed

CUSTOMER SERVICE – 10%

  • Service internal & external customers
  • Answer the phones
  • Communicate between internal and external sources
  • Deal with delivery problems or schedules
  • Deal with any customer issues

MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES – 10%

  • Attention to detail to organize 53ft trailers on a visual white board and vocally
  • Support dispatchers and enter loads into our software
  • Send electronic emails through Samsara or correspondence to drivers

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in both mainframe and PC computer applications
  • Mid Level dispatching
  • 2 - 3 Years experience in the trucking industry, achieving a high degree of familiarity with industry terms, paperwork, and geographic areas of Canada and the United States

EDUCATION

Minimum high school diploma or related work experience

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • 75% sedentary work

  • 75% or more of time fingering, sitting, talking, hearing, and seeing
  • Spends approximately 75% or more of time indoors
  • Able to block distractions and communicate in a Professional Manner
