Senior Designer

Liftsafe Group of Companies is a privately owned company that designs, builds, inspects and maintains lifting, material handling, and fall protection systems equipment.

Job purpose

To fulfill a position within the engineering department which will meet the supply and demand of Liftsafe Engineering and Service Group Inc. As outlined in this job description, the expectation is for the duties, responsibilities and qualifications to be efficiently performed and for this individual to contribute to the overall growth of the company.

Duties and responsibilities

• Design, modeling, and drafting for custom industrial material handling equipment, cranes and support structures.
• Design analysis (via calculation and simulation) to ensure appropriateness of design.
• Ensure design for manufacturability for both in-house and external facilities.
• Review designs by junior and intermediate peers.
• Site visits for design verification as required.
• Professional Seal of engineering documentation as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
• Develop, implement, and manage design standards and best practices with due consideration of internal manufacturing capabilities in collaboration with Production and Engineering Managers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering with minimum 10 years' related design experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment. Licensed Professional Engineer (Ontario) required.
• Proven ability to use 2D and 3D CAD programs such as AutoCAD & Inventor.
• Solid understanding of structural engineering aspects, industry/regulatory codes and standards including their interfaces with other systems.
• Successful candidate will have professional demeanor with effective communication skills, able to influence people, be motivated and innovative, as well as able to work independently or as a member of a team with very little supervision.

• Occasional travel, clean drivers abstract
• Fast-paced with tight deadlines

• Working at heights preferred
