The Role

We are currently recruiting for experienced Journeyman and Apprentice Pipefitters to join our team at Kearl Oil Sands, a major oil sands site in Northern Alberta. The successful candidates will work in a safety-first environment on a 14/14 rotation. Camp accommodations and meals provided. Charter flights provided from designated hubs in Edmonton and Calgary with flight allowances based on the province located. 

This project is 6 months in duration and will be starting beginning of March

CLAC hourly wagesPayday is every FridayCompany contributed RRSP & Pension contributionsBenefits after 300 hoursPaid training10% vacation and stat holiday pay on regular earningsOT at 1.5 after 8 hours per day 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Journeyman

Read,  interpret and work from blueprints, isometric drawings and specificationsExpertly measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, assemble and install metal, plastic and fiberglass valves, pipes, fittingsInstall valves, pumps, fittings, supports and control systemsTroubleshoot and repair piping systems as requiredEnsure work is completed in accordance with OCL standards, industry codes and applicable regulationsMentor and provide guidance to Apprentice PipefittersMaintain a safe, clean and organized work areaComply with all company, client and site-specific safety policies and procedures


Apprentices

Assist journeyperson pipefitters with the installation, assembly and maintenance of piping systemsLearn and read and interpret blueprints and drawings under supervisionMeasure, cut and prepare pipe and materials as directedAssist with installing supports, valves, fittings and piping componentsUse hand and power tools safely and correctly and as directed by a supervisorMaintain tools, equipment and a clean work area at all timesFollow all safety policies, procedures and job site requirementsDemonstrate a willingness to learn, take direction and develop pipefitting skills Complete tasks in accordance with OCL and industry standards

Skills/Qualifications/Education

Journeyman

Journeyperson Pipefitter CertificationPrevious experience in an industrial construction environmentValid safety tickets (OSSA, CSTS-2020, WHMIS 2015, H2S Alive, First Aid, Fall Protection, AWP, Confined Space)Ability to work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to work with cranes and rigging-pick out the appropriate size weight ratings Physically capable of performing job duties including but not limited to: bending, lifting and working in various weather conditionsEnsure a safe team environmentAdhere to all company and worksite safety and quality processes and proceduresStrong communication skillsMust be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol testMust complete a criminal background check Must be legally eligible to work in Canada 

Apprentices

Registered Pipefitter Apprentice Previous industrial or construction experience is considered an assetValid safety tickets (OSSA, CSTS-2020, WHMIS 2015, H2S Alive, Fall Protection, AWP, Confined Space )Ability to perform physical job duties in an industrial environmentBasic understanding of piping systems and construction practicesAbility to work effectively as part of a team Strong work ethic and positive attitudeCommitment to safe work practicesMust be able to to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test Must complete a criminal background checkMust be legally eligible to work in Canada
