Job Overview

MayWay Education is seeking an experienced and passionate IB/AP English Teacher to provide one-on-one instruction for students in Grades 8–12. The tutor will deliver personalized, high-quality English instruction tailored to each student's academic goals, learning style, and curriculum requirements. Teaching may take place in-person or remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1-on-1 English tutoring tailored to individual student needs
  • Teach the following courses and programs:

IB English (Language & Literature / Literature)

AP English Language & Composition / AP English Literature & Composition

  • Support students with essay writing, literary analysis, critical reading, and exam strategies
  • Design customized lesson plans, assignments, and practice materials
  • Prepare students for IB Internal Assessments, AP exams, and school assessments
  • Mark and provide detailed feedback on essays, homework, quizzes, and mock exams
  • Track student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
  • Communicate academic progress and recommendations with parents when necessary
  • Collaborate with academic coordinators to ensure instructional quality and consistency

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • PhD or Master's degree required (or Bachelor's degree in a related major with strong teaching experience preferred)
  • Minimum two years of teaching or tutoring experience
  • Major in English, Literature, Linguistics, Education, Humanities, or related fields
  • Experience teaching IB English and/or AP English (1-on-1 or group classes) is a strong asset
  • Strong expertise in essay writing, literary analysis, and exam preparation
  • Personal computer or laptop with a working camera
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection
  • Quiet, clutter-free, and well-lit teaching environment suitable for online instruction
  • Must be willing to work in Eastern Time (ET)

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $25.00-$50.00 per hour
