Job Overview

Usborne & Hibbert Mutual is expanding our Claims Team and we are searching for a Multi-Line Claims Adjuster with a focus in property claims. This will be a fast-paced environment where your professionalism, accuracy and efficiency will be key to your success in juggling multiple competing tasks. This is a full-time hybrid position reporting to the Claims Team Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Attend loss locations to investigate cause of loss, including taking statements, photographs, and identifying scope of loss
  • Evaluate claims by conducting thorough investigations; determine coverage and validity of claims, interview and communication with policyholders
  • Analyze and interpret insurance policy wording to determine coverage
  • Assess estimates and scopes of work to validate information
  • Coordinate with contractors, appraisers and other experts as required
  • Negotiate settlement and issue payments
  • Ensure all claims are clearly documented and that legislative requirements are met
  • Handle claims as per company protocols and timelines

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3 years' claims handling experience preferred
  • A college diploma or a university degree is an asset
  • Preference for those with experience includes work in the insurance industry or working towards your Chartered Insurance Professional Designation (CIP)
  • Experience in construction or trades, farming or relevant transferable knowledge is an asset
  • Proficient in insurance software and business technology tools
  • Valid driver's license and access to transportation
