Toronto, Ontario, Canada Okta Full time

Get to know Okta

Okta is The World's Identity Company. We free everyone to safely use any technology, anywhere, on any device or app. Our flexible and neutral products, Okta Platform and Auth0 Platform, provide secure access, authentication, and automation, placing identity at the core of business security and growth.

At Okta, we celebrate a variety of perspectives and experiences. We are not looking for someone who checks every single box - we're looking for lifelong learners and people who can make us better with their unique experiences.

Join our team We're building a world where Identity belongs to you.

About This Role:

At Auth0 by Okta, we're on a mission to build trusted identity experiences for developers, businesses, and end users. As part of that mission, we're expanding how we understand and measure developer experience — going beyond dashboards to uncover deeper behavioral insights that guide product and business strategy.

We're looking for a Behavioral Data Scientist to help us make sense of how developers engage with our platform and what drives retention, activation, and churn. In this role, you'll lead segmentation efforts, build predictive models, and bring together multiple data sources — including surveys, product usage, and clickstream data — to shape how we measure and improve experience quality.

You'll collaborate closely with researchers, PMs, designers, engineers, and marketers to ensure the insights you uncover are actionable and embedded in decision-making. This is a staff-level role with real ownership and visibility — ideal for someone who's excited to connect the dots between data, behavior, and business impact.

Key Responsibilities

Developer Experience Metrics & Strategy

  • Define and refine metrics that reflect developer experience and satisfaction
  • Analyze behavioral patterns across funnels, segments, and user touchpoints to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Work with research and design partners to connect experience quality to business outcomes

Behavioral Analytics & Data Integration

  • Bring together diverse data sources — including NPS, surveys, sentiment, usage, funnel, and churn — to identify behavioral signals
  • Translate insights into clear recommendations for product, growth, and marketing teams
  • Help teams make smarter decisions by revealing the "why" behind the numbers

Segmentation & Predictive Modeling

  • Lead clustering and segmentation efforts to support targeted product and marketing strategies
  • Build and evaluate predictive models that surface risk and opportunity (e.g., churn, activation drivers, engagement)
  • Share learnings in clear, actionable ways with technical and non-technical audiences

Experimentation & Model Evaluation

  • Collaborate with data science, product, and research partners to guide experimentation and evaluate LLM-powered features
  • Bring a behavioral lens to model development, interpretation, and iteration

Cross-Functional Influence

  • Partner with data engineering, PMs, design, marketing, and research teams to align insights with business needs
  • Advocate for evidence-based decision-making across the org
  • Take initiative in solving ambiguous problems and identifying what data is needed — even when it's not readily available

Required Experience & Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience in behavioral science research and data science
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience with predictive modeling, segmentation, and experimentation
  • Fluent in SQL and Python, and comfortable working with large, messy datasets
  • Deep understanding of user behavior and motivation, especially in digital product environments
  • Skilled at balancing methodological rigor with business pragmatism — you know how to deliver signal when it matters
  • Thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and can operate with autonomy and problem-solving mindset
  • Comfortable influencing cross-functional teams and connecting analysis to action
  • Strong experience collaborating with UX researchers, designers, product managers, data scientists, and marketers

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience building and evaluating LLM-powered features or agent interactions
  • Familiarity with product analytics tools like Heap, Tableau, Snowflake and survey tools like Qualtrics and GoodQuestion
  • Experience in developer platforms, SaaS, or identity/security-related products
  • Prior work alongside or embedded in UX Research teams
