Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Cantonese Speaking Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide exceptional care and assistance to individuals in various care settings. As a vital member of our caregiving team, you will support clients with daily activities, monitor their health, and ensure their safety and comfort. Your role will involve working closely with clients who may have developmental disabilities, dementia, or require specialized memory care, all while communicating effectively in Cantonese. Duties

  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior
  • Administer medications and follow care plans as directed by healthcare professionals
  • Support clients with memory care needs such as Alzheimer's disease or dementia, ensuring a safe environment
  • Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts to assist with mobility and transfers safely
  • Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements and assist with feeding when necessary
  • Maintain cleanliness of client living spaces through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
  • Document patient observations, care provided, and any incidents accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Assist with community-based home care services or long-term residential care environments
  • Support residents' social engagement activities to promote mental well-being
  • Follow all safety protocols including CPR and first aid procedures to ensure client safety at all times
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement personalized care plans
  • Engage in patient monitoring to detect early signs of health issues or behavioral changes
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, fostering a positive environment

Skills

  • Fluent in Cantonese with excellent communication skills in English for effective interaction with clients and team members
  • Proven experience working as a PSW or caregiver in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care settings
  • Strong knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
  • Familiarity with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory support strategies, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts and manage physical demands of caregiving tasks
  • Knowledge of infection control practices including cleaning protocols and sanitation standards
  • Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance training preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain required certifications upon hire is appreciated
  • Experience assisting residents with ADLs and implementing individualized care plans effectively
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality patient-centered care
  • Compassionate attitude combined with patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills
