Position is Remote – Full time hours/seasonal work .75 FTE (following the school calendar)
This is a remote, seasonal position working 35 hours per week, that will begin as .75 FTE following the school calendar, with the future potential of increasing to 1.0 FTE.
Salary Range - $67,500 - $71,250/year (based on .75 FTE of a full-time salary of $90,000 - $95,000)
WHO WE ARE
The Cinderella Project is a federally registered, currently 100% volunteer-run charity, founded in Vancouver, BC in 1999. It was created to help ensure high-risk Grade 12 students complete their high school education by offering customized support for each youth, mentorship, care packages and graduation attire, as well as scholarships to support transition to post-secondary pathways.
We support youth facing severe financial hardship, mental health challenges, unstable home lives, systemic discrimination, caregiving responsibilities or the unique demands of teen parenthood, to instill hope and build confidence by celebrating student success and helping them achieve their educational goals. To date we have assisted over 5,000 youth.
At our core, we are a community of advocates, mentors, and changemakers who believe that celebrating student success and investing in potential can break cycles of disadvantage. Through connection, encouragement, and opportunity, The Cinderella Project helps students build confidence, achieve their goals, and imagine a future they may not have thought possible.
HOW WE WORK
We foster a people-first culture, recognizing that meaningful change happens when our team members feel valued and empowered. Our work can at times be fast-paced but not at the sake of work-life balance. Collaboration is in our DNA—we bring together donors and community leaders to drive change. We strive to be flexible, take initiative, and embrace the complexity that is inherent in our work. We celebrate different workstyles and bring our whole selves to work.
THE OPPORTUNITY
After 26 successful years as a volunteer-run organization, The Cinderella Project is entering an exciting new phase of growth. We are proud to be hiring our inaugural Executive Director — a milestone that reflects the strength, success, and future potential of our organization.
With a dedicated volunteer base of over 700 individuals and long-standing support from generous community partners, The Cinderella Project has flourished as a grassroots initiative. We've achieved remarkable impact through our programs — and now, we're ready to scale that impact even further. The Executive Director will bring fresh perspective, strategic leadership, and operational expertise to build on this strong foundation. This is a unique opportunity to step into a thriving, respected organization and lead its evolution — while staying true to the values, heart, and spirit that have made The Cinderella Project what it is today.
OVERVIEW
Reporting to the volunteer Board of Directors, the Executive Director will hold broad responsibility and accountability for leading day-to-day operations of The Cinderella Project. This role requires a dynamic, mission-driven leader.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about equity in education and helping youth overcome barriers. As an innovative leader with a growth mindset, the Executive Director will bring their own ideas and energy to help transition the organization from its all-volunteer roots into a more structured, professionally run nonprofit with long-term sustainability and impact. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with a supportive and committed Board of Directors and a vast network of volunteers.
This is a remote, seasonal position working 35 hours per week, that will begin as .75 FTE following the school calendar, with the future potential of increasing to 1.0 FTE. Hours are flexible to support work-life balance. Some evening and weekend work will be required (in Vancouver or North Vancouver) , with time off in lieu provided through a flexible scheduling arrangement. We strive to create a supportive and accessible workplace and will work with you on any accommodation needs.
MISSION AND MANDATE
The Executive Director will provide leadership, mentorship and support to a dedicated team of volunteers and committee members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and care, as well as build and sustain strong value-based relationships with donors, community partners and other key supporters. They will develop and execute sustainable revenue-generation strategies and oversee the successful delivery of programs and services, ensuring they are aligned with our mission and meet the evolving needs of the youth we serve. The Executive Director will uphold and ensure compliance with the organization's Constitution, Bylaws, and the Society Act of British Columbia while consistently modeling the values of The Cinderella Project Society and champion and promote the organization's mission, vision, and impact throughout the community and across broader networks.
