Join Our Mission to Make a Difference at ABC Head Start Society

At ABC Head Start Society, we're on a mission to raise families out of poverty and help children harness their superpowers, conquer hardships, and live their best lives. We envision a world where every child has equal access to a full and successful life, and we're looking for passionate, caring, and driven individuals to join us on this journey.

As an Early Learning Educational Assistant II, you'll be an integral part of a team that's shaping brighter futures for children ages 3-5. You'll work in inclusive, nurturing classrooms that are designed to support kids with diverse learning needs and backgrounds. With the help of an interdisciplinary team, you'll create a space where every child can thrive—and where every employee feels valued and supported.

About Us

At our agency, we are driven by our core values of belonging, empowerment, collaboration, and growth. We believe in creating a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and included, empowering individuals to reach their full potential. Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do, as we work together to make a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. We are committed to fostering growth, not only for those we support but also for our team, by embracing continuous learning and innovation. If these values resonate with you, we'd love to have you join our mission-driven team.

Why You'll Love Working Here

We're not just another workplace—we're a supportive, mission-driven community that cares deeply about our staff and the families we serve. Here's what you can look forward to:

  • Work-Life Balance: Nonprofit work means fewer late nights and more time to focus on what really matters—your well-being and the kids in your care.
  • A Culture of Growth: Whether it's professional development workshops, mentorship, or opportunities for career advancement, we're here to help you grow as a professional and as a person.
  • Supportive Environment: We're all about lifting each other up. You'll work with a team that values collaboration, compassion, and care.
  • Making a Difference: The impact you'll have on the lives of vulnerable children and their families will be more rewarding than you can imagine.

What You'll Do

  • Provide flexible classroom coverage across two program locations, supporting staff absences, breaks, and transitions to ensure consistent care and supervision for children ages 3-5.
  • Collaborate with teams to delivery engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  • Support children with diverse needs - including behavioural, developmental, and cultural differences - by implementing individualized strategies and trauma-informed practices.
  • Assist with daily routines such as arrival, departure, snack time, and transitions, ensuring consistency and emotional safety.
  • Help maintain clean, organized, and stimulating learning spaces by preparing materials, sanitizing equipment, and restocking supplies.

About You

You thrive in a collaborative, dynamic environment where no two days are the same, bringing integrity, empathy, and a passion for making a difference. With strong communication skills, you build trust and foster teamwork while delivering results and maintaining service excellence. Your ability to plan, organize, and adapt ensures efficiency in achieving goals. Bonus points if you have experience supporting children facing unique challenges or from diverse cultural backgrounds, as this enhances your ability to connect and contribute effectively.

Must-Haves:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Early Learning and Childcare, Special Needs Educational Assistant, Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant, or related field.
  • Experience supporting children with behavioral or developmental needs.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between locations.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices (or a willingness to learn).
  • Willing participant in annual training in Safe Management practices (employer provided training).
  • Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector completed obtained within 60-days of date of hire.
  • Valid Standard First Aid/CPR certification or completion within 30-days of hire.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • A knack for creativity and problem-solving. Experience in inclusive, multicultural environments. A love of play-based learning (bonus if you're great at hide-and-seek).
