Position Summary

Acuren' s lab division is seeking an individual to fill our role for a Senior Lab Technician (Fatigue & Fracture Mechanics Testing.  The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical testing, be highly organized, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

  • Position will be based in our Mississauga, ON. location
  • The salary range will be CA$30 to CA$35/hr. based on qualifications and experience
Responsibilities

Laboratory Testing & Analysis

  • Perform calibration, alignment and equipment maintenance as per ASTM or other published standards. Coordinate with vendors as needed.
  • Coordinate timing for sample preparation and test samples following clearly defined procedures.
  • Operate mechanical testing frames and software for testing.
  • Record data, analyse results and create reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Conduct dimensional verification on specimens as needed.
  • Develop understanding of specimen preparation, testing and analysis.
  • Develop testing procedures based on ASTM standards.
  • Develop and follow quality-approved documents for testing analysis.

Support of Laboratory Operations

  • Work with Quality Assurance team to ensure all instruments, tools, equipment, and computers are maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized testing area.
  • Keep accurate equipment files including datasheets, maintenance logs, and calibration records.
  • Prepare quotes for testing in other departments as needed.
  • The successful candidate will also be responsible to research new test methods and develop internal procedures for testing. 
Requirements

Core Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • BSc. or related technology/technician diploma preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant laboratory experience preferred
  • Experience conducting fatigue testing and fracture mechanics testing required
  • Knowledge of industry testing standards (ASTM E399, E606, E647, E466, E1820)
  • Understanding of laboratory equipment, alignment, calibration, and procedures considered an asset
  • Preferred experience with MTS software, Microsoft Excel, and AutoCAD
  • Ability to follow laboratory work orders and instructions while delivering results in a timely manner
