Role ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Training Specialist, the Wildfire Support Training Technician is essential to maintaining a defensible training program for all front-line staff. The Training Technician maintains existing wildfire training courses while identifying effective and efficient changes to the program. This role supports staff and contractors to ensure their preparedness before being deployed to the Fireline.
The Training Technician is instrumental in developing new online training courses and content; delivering advanced operational and aerial suppression training; coaching and mentoring wildfire crew, leaders, and rappel spotters, while auditing and updating existing Operational Wildfire training courses. This position supports the creation and maintenance of Air Attack Officer and Helicopter Coordinator aerial training simulations while supporting wildfire training workload as required.
This role provides satisfaction in developing and enhancing knowledge of best practices, quality training materials, and ensuring consistent and polished products of the Forestry Capability Development Branch.

Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma.
- Plus, one year of related experience.
- Alberta Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent.
Equivalencies will be considered.
Assets:
- Strong Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Technical knowledge of wildfire operations, Fireline suppression knowledge and/or experience.
- Understanding of the Forest Operations Branch standard operating procedures, policies, and expectations.

This is a seasonl wage position. The estimated term of employment is five (5) months. This competition is recruiting one (1) seasonal temporary wage Training Technician at the Hinton Training Centre and may hire for an additional position. A valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent is required.
Any costs associated with obtaining the required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses, will be the responsibility of the candidate. Out-of-province applicants can obtain the required documents/checks from the province they currently reside in.
What We Offer:
- Wage employees receive 11.6% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of paid holidays and vacation leave.
- 5.6% of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
- 6% of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
- Accommodations will be provided at the Hinton Training Centre(HTC).
