Calgary Alberta TC Canada DIRTT Careers Full time

Who We Are

Not just built for today. Building for tomorrow.

DIRTT is a global leader in industrialized construction. Our system of physical products and digital tools empowers organizations—alongside construction and design leaders—to build high-performing, adaptable interior environments.

Operating across workplace, healthcare, education, and public sector markets, DIRTT provides total design freedom and greater certainty in cost, schedule, and outcomes.

We are a highly motivated group of individuals who embrace the company's entrepreneurial spirit. Everyone is hands-on, regardless of role. We celebrate our successes together, work hard, have fun, and treat one another with respect.

Who You Are

As a Plant Director, you are a strategic, hands-on leader responsible for driving operational excellence across DIRTT's manufacturing operations. You bring a deep understanding of plant management, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement, with a proven ability to lead through transformation, ambiguity, and growth.

You are a systems thinker who can design and execute value streams that meet customer demand while delivering measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost. You lead with intent, build strong teams, and establish stability by implementing lean processes—not just operating within them.

As a DIRTT Plant Director, you are accountable for performance against ambitious long-term goals, applying a "true north" mindset to drive sustainable results. You inspire others, foster accountability, and create an environment where people, processes, and performance continuously improve.

What You'll Do

  • Lead all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, and safety, ensuring compliance with regulatory and DIRTT standards.

    • Drive lean behaviors across the organization to rapidly solve problems, design effective value streams and manufacturing cells, and meet customer demand.

    • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with S&OP and SQDIP processes, monitoring KPIs and deploying countermeasures to close performance gaps.

    • Apply Strategy Deployment (Hoshin Kanri) or equivalent target-setting methodologies to translate business objectives into detailed action plans with time-phased performance impacts.

    • Set and drive ambitious, long-term performance goals that go beyond incremental annual improvements, using a true north approach.

    • Recruit, develop, and lead supervisors and plant staff by setting clear expectations, providing coaching, and building robust succession plans to maximize individual and team potential.

    • Foster a strong safety-first culture, leading initiatives to significantly reduce incident rates and sustain world-class safety performance.

    • Lead quality and operational improvement initiatives to achieve and sustain results such as reductions in PPM, improvements in inventory turns, workforce retention, and overall plant performance.

    • Own plant financial performance by managing budgets, controlling costs, optimizing resources, and leading capital planning to improve P&L results.

    • Lead capital projects, plant expansions, consolidations, and value stream transformations, ensuring ROI through disciplined lean execution.

    • Drive continuous improvement by leading cross-functional initiatives that increase efficiency, capacity, and operational excellence.

    • Maintain clear, effective communication through regular meetings, visual management, and reporting on safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost performance.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or post-secondary education in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).

    • 5–7 years of experience leading manufacturing operations with a strong focus on lean transformation and continuous improvement.

    • Proven experience overseeing multi-site operations or leading large, complex manufacturing facilities.

    • Demonstrated success implementing lean manufacturing principles, tools, and behaviors—not just sustaining existing systems.

    • Strong experience leading organizations through ambiguity, shifting priorities, and transformational change.

    • Track record of operating in environments with fluctuating demand, including both lean and high-growth ("feast") seasons.

    • Progressive leadership experience in manufacturing or construction environments.

    • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and safety protocols.

    • Proficiency with ERP systems and manufacturing software.

    • Ability to anticipate challenges, implement effective solutions, and maintain performance during periods of uncertainty or rapid change.

Leader Competencies

Safety First

  • Foster a safe work environment where safety is foundational to every decision and action.

Lead Your Team

  • Build relationships by establishing trust, collaboration, and open communication.

    • Develop people through clear expectations, coaching, feedback, and strengths-based leadership.

    • Inspire others through vision, positivity, confidence, challenge, and recognition.

Create Accountability

  • Walk the talk by holding yourself and others responsible for performance and results.

    • Think critically by evaluating information, solving problems, and applying sound judgment.

    • Communicate clearly by listening actively and sharing information with purpose and clarity.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead change by setting goals, aligning teams, and driving purposeful improvements that support DIRTT's vision and strategy.

What's In It for You

  • A competitive base salary plus a variable pay (bonus) program.

    • Eligibility to participate in DIRTT's Employee Share Purchase Plan.

    • For in-office roles: continental breakfast, coffee, tea, soda, daily hot cafeteria lunch, and snacks to keep you energized.

    • Comprehensive health benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.

    • Disability and insurance benefits, including short- and long-term disability, life insurance, and dependent coverage.

    • Mental health and wellbeing support, including an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

    • A thorough and supportive onboarding program designed to set you up for success.
