Senior Software Engineer (.NET, AWS, Frontend)

Location: Calgary, Alberta – onsite 5 days a week

Duration: 6 Months +

Rate 60 – 65 CAD per hour

Job Description:

Improving has an opportunity Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, modern web frameworks (React/Angular/Vue), and AWS cloud technologies to lead the modernization of an internal, legacy ASP.NET MVC application. This application supports payment and loyalty card management, administrative tasks, and other internal business operations.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully refactoring and migrating monolithic applications to modern, cloud-native architectures. You will be responsible for redesigning, re-architecting, and re-implementing the application using modern JavaScript technologies while ensuring scalability, security, and seamless integration with AWS services.

This is a key role in designing an intuitive, high-performance front end, implementing a robust and scalable back end, and ensuring that usage and consumption of the new system are monitored and tracked efficiently using AWS services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Modernization and Architecture
  • Analyze the existing ASP.NET MVC application to identify core functionality, dependencies, and architectural requirements.
  • Design and implement a modular, microservices-based architecture with a modern JavaScript/TypeScript stack.
  • Refactor and migrate existing business logic, API services, and database layers to a new architecture.
  • Develop APIs with secure, high-performance endpoints.
  • Front-End Development
  • Design and build an intuitive, responsive, and highly performant front-end using a modern JavaScript framework ( React, Angular, Vue, etc.).
  • Create reusable components and ensure adherence to UX/UI best practices.
  • Ensure seamless integration between front-end and back-end services.
  • Back-End and API Development
  • Implement user authentication and role-based authorization.
  • Migrate and optimize database operations, ensuring efficient data access and storage.
  • AWS Cloud Infrastructure and Monitoring
  • Deploy the application on AWS (EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, etc.)
  • Enable the monitoring, logging, and usage tracking using AWS services ( CloudWatch, CloudTrail,X-Ray, etc.).
  • Establish CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployments and version control.
  • Security and Compliance
  • Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive data, following industry best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant security and data privacy standards.

Required Skills/Experience
:

Technical Expertise:

  • 5+ years of experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design and/or experience with GraphQL is a plus.
  • Proficiency in AWS services including EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail.
  • Experience with setting up CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Legacy System Migration and Modernization: Proven experience in refactoring and modernizing legacy applications (preferably ASP.NET MVC)
