Lead Visual Designer

Job responsibilities

• Lead and deliver high quality visual design across digital products, brand experiences, campaigns and narrative communication.
• Create compelling visual systems across multiple formats including interfaces, illustration, iconography, storytelling frames, motion sequences and video compositions.
• Develop visual concepts that clarify complex ideas and communicate them with precision, emotion and aesthetic quality.
• Elevate the craft quality of your team through critique, guidance and hands on design leadership.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, strategy and client stakeholders to ensure visual design supports both experience goals and business objectives.
• Present visual thinking clearly, telling the story behind your design decisions and demonstrating how craft strengthens the solution.
• Adapt your style and approach across different mediums while maintaining coherence and visual excellence.
• Contribute to Thoughtworks' visual design community by sharing practices, mentoring and supporting collective craft growth.

Job qualifications Visual Craft Skills

• Expertise in composition, typography, hierarchy, color, spacing and layout.
• Strong execution in graphic design and digital product visual design.
• Experience designing across multiple mediums such as illustration, branding, storytelling frames, motion graphics or video.
• Ability to build or extend design systems with a strong focus on visual foundations and consistency.

Professional and Leadership Skills

• Ability to guide teams and elevate craft quality through clear critique and visual direction.
• Confidence presenting work, articulating rationale and influencing stakeholders.
• Comfort working in multidisciplinary teams, integrating visual thinking into product and experience conversations.
• Openness to explore, iterate and refine ideas collaboratively.
• A strong sense of ownership, care for quality and commitment to delivering beautiful, thoughtful visual outcomes.
