Student Optician – The Vision Clinic

The Vision Clinic is currently seeking a Student Optician in to work in a fast-paced retail optical with a dynamic team. 13 locations within the Niagara and Hamilton regions and over 30 years in business.

Duties include:

• Provide exceptional customer service
• Perform basic pre-exam tests
• Assist licensed opticians with patient care including helping customers with the selection and fitting of prescription contact lenses, spectacle lenses, frames, and sunglasses
• Take accurate optical measurements including PDs, heights, and frame adjustments under the supervision of a Licensed Optician
• Have a clear understanding of current in-store promotions
• Complete additional daily office tasks such a record keeping, insurance payment processing, maintaining accurate inventory, and tracking requests
• Support patients in scheduling optometrist appointments
• Create work orders for the lab and provide all relevant information for manufacturing lenses
• All tasks associated with contact lens fitting and evaluations
• Maintain a safe and exceptional level of health care cleanliness at all times
• General office duties to support the efficiency and smooth operation of the store

Requirements:

• Current enrollment in an opticianry post-secondary program, preferably NAIT 1st or 2nd year student
• Optical retail experience preferred
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong organizational skills, computer knowledge and administrative abilities
• Excellent communication skills; pleasant telephone manner
• Fashionable, professional attire
• Must have own transportation

Job Type: Full-Time – Must be able to work on Saturdays

Work Location: This position is fulltime for our Hamilton Location at 1791 Stonechurch Rd.

Willing to work at multiple locations to cover sick or vacation leaves if required.
