Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Tutor to support students in achieving their academic goals. The ideal candidate will provide personalized instruction, foster a positive learning environment, and help students develop confidence in their abilities. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' educational journeys through effective teaching and mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions across various subjects based on student needs
  • Develop customized lesson plans and learning strategies to enhance understanding and engagement
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching methods accordingly
  • Foster a supportive and encouraging environment that promotes student confidence and motivation
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and educators regarding student performance and areas for improvement
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, attendance, and progress reports
  • Stay updated on curriculum changes and best practices in tutoring and education

Qualifications

  • MUST be a UWaterloo or UOFT Student in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering
  • Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, preferably with children or adolescents
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey concepts and motivate students
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning styles
  • Classroom experience is a plus, indicating familiarity with educational environments
  • Passion for education and helping students succeed
  • Reliable, patient, and able to build rapport with diverse learners
  • Prior experience working with children is highly desirable
