Position Summary
Working with other staff and volunteers, the Program Facilitator will deliver programming to youth (grades K-6 primarily), in local classrooms as part of our
StoryMaker
and
Story Sparks
workshops. This is a contract position with variable weekly hours. Workshop delivery is typically scheduled on school days between 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM, with workload increasing during peak periods (e.g., April–June) and reduced in others. Contractors will invoice monthly for hours worked (plus GST). The successful candidate will:
- Prepare and organize materials and resources for each workshop
- Facilitate engaging creative writing workshops for youth in classrooms across the CRD
- Support story editing and book production at our Victoria office
- Maintain a positive, encouraging environment for young writers

Qualifications
Story Studio values equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of our organization and encourage applications from underrepresented groups.
- An undergraduate degree (in progress or completed)
- Teaching certification and/or teacher training strongly desired (but not required)
- 2-3 years' experience educating young audiences (particularly 5-11 years old) (required)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (required)
- Strong organizational skills and adaptability (required)
- Experience in working with Google Docs/Sheets/Drive, etc. (required)
- Access to reliable transportation to schools across the CRD
- The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory police record check
