What success looks like in this role:

  • Provides Software Applications Engineering support for larger and more complex applications / project areas.

  • Primarily Oracle SQL database development and configuration for Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software for multiple customers

  • Experience in implementing business rules using Oracle stored procedures, functions.

  • Responsibilities include participating in requirements, design, coding, testing, debugging, peer reviews, preparing documentation and maintaining program logic for new and/or existing programs/applications.

  • Develop sizing for assigned use cases with inputs from the BA team.

  • Configures, programs and tests applications / technical architecture components.

  • Works closely with the testing team to understand existing and newly generated issues (regression) and works towards providing solutions.

  • Fixes defects and performance related problems.

  • Participates in code reviews, works with other developers, designers, and architects to ensure requirements are met.

  • Ensures the integrity of pre-production environments, such as development, test, QA and staging environments.

  • Support other developers, business analysts, architects and core team members to ensure requirements are met leveraging an Agile based delivery approach.

  • Comply with industry standard secure development practices, including use of tools such as BURP to identify and proactively address known vulnerabilities.

  • Support existing ITIL based configuration management process using SVN/Hudson, GIT/Jenkins for source code management.

  • Be able to apply diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes and recommend solutions (i.e., log analysis using tools such as Splunk)

  • Prepare, approve and coordinate the implementation of technical documentation and ensure that technical and client documentation is clear, current, accurate and complete.

  • Leads efforts in specific process improvement and technical automation areas.

  • Helps less experienced team members in completion of upskilling training / tasks.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

  • University degree or equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

  • Expectation is 5+ years of relevant IT experience, developing applications.

  • Experience working in an Agile delivery framework.

  • Development experience with SQL or PL/SQL is a must, Oracle preferred.

  • Experience supporting an enterprise system or commercial off the shelf (COTS), configurable web application suites.

  • Exposure with the following tools and technologies:

  • Working with Java J2EE, REST and SOAP services preferred.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are critical along with the ability to translate technical findings to "businessspeak" when communicating with non-technical business clients in the context of requirements gathering, sprint demos, etc.

  • Ability to think outside the box to troubleshoot a range of technical and/or environment related issues that may arise during the course of development.

  • Ability to function as an integral member of a team, within strict deadline or time constraints, with multiple and often shifting priorities.

  • Build productive internal/external working relationships.
