Role: Oracle Database Administrator

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada

Pay Range: CAD $70–75/hr

Job Description:

  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience as a DBA with Oracle DBMS, Oracle Exadata Appliance, Oracle OEM, and Oracle Cloud.
  • Build, deploy, configure, manage, and tune PostgreSQL 11+ databases on Red Hat Linux.
  • Support PostgreSQL databases through development and production lifecycles alongside operational teams.
  • Provide database solution reviews and advice within company policies; troubleshoot and resolve PostgreSQL-related issues.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud on Exadata, including design, development, and implementation in large enterprise environments.
  • Manage and support Oracle Exadata Appliance environments.
  • Implement database security, encryption, and deploy security patches to remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Oracle 12c/19c RAC and ASM environments.
  • Build, configure, monitor, and implement Oracle DataGuard and Oracle GoldenGate replication solutions.
  • Perform RMAN backups/recovery on very large databases.
  • Conduct Oracle performance analysis using Statspack, SQL tracing, AWR, and ASH reports.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve urgent/critical production incidents.
  • Proficient in Python, Perl, and UNIX shell scripting for automation and operational tasks.
  • Experience with IBM IIDR data replication and database utilities like Tivoli Storage Manager for backup and recovery.
  • Expert knowledge in user access management, database privileges, auditing, and compliance standards (SOX, PCI DSS, FISMA, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, FATCA).
  • Provide technical guidance, influence product direction, identify solutions for gaps/issues, and work comfortably with new/unproven technologies.
  • Work independently or as a mentor to educate and coach others on database operations and solutions
