Position Overview:

We are seeking a team-focused individual to join SCV Waste Solutions as a Curbside Swamper. The successful candidate will be reliable, resilient, and committed to supporting essential waste and recycling services within our local communities. This role involves physically assisting with waste collection, supporting the driver with routing and communication, and actively participating in SCV's safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manually pick up waste, recycling, and organics from customer sites in an efficient and effective manner.
• Physically assist the driver in completing daily collection routes using safe working procedures.
• Provide route directions and program updates to the driver based on daily briefing notes.
• Maintain daily logs as required and perform trip inspections to ensure equipment safety and roadworthiness.
• Understand and manage acceptable materials for each waste stream at customer sites.
• Communicate effectively with the dispatcher and other drivers via phone and radio.
• Liaise with the Customer Support Team regarding on-site challenges such as access issues, overflows, or contamination.
• Document routing, program, and operational issues using internal tracking and documentation systems.
• Operate equipment safely and responsibly to prevent damage to equipment, property, or surrounding structures.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns.
• Demonstrate flexibility when managing on-call or last-minute collections.
• Provide above-and-beyond customer service at all collection sites.
• Actively participate in SCV's health and safety programs and comply with all company safe work practices and procedures.
• Assist with additional duties as required, including unloading collection trucks, tipping waste bins, washing organics bins, baling materials, bin assembly, and maintaining yard and shop standards.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Capable of lifting up to 75lbs.
• High level of physical stamina and endurance.
• Demonstration of commitment and reliability.
