The Senior Manager, Recovery and Resolution Planning position is a key member of the Recovery and Resolution Planning team in Global Risk Management. This role supports the design, maintenance and execution of Scotiabank's Recovery Plan in alignment with OSFI's guiding principles.The Bank's Recovery Plan provides a detailed roadmap of the actions to be taken by the Bank in the event of a financial crisis that could threaten its viability. The incumbent will partner closely with Group Treasury, Capital Management, Global Banking and Markets, Operations, Strategic Transactions and Review, and various Business Lines to identify recovery options and develop playbooks/capabilities to demonstrate the Bank's ability to recover from severe stress.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Liaises with a broad range of stakeholders by providing recovery planning expertise and general direction, as well as ensuring issues are identified, flagged and remediated in a timely manner.
  • Develops a clear, concise and cohesive recovery plan through continuous improvement and quality control, as well effective presentations to management, Board/Committees, and OSFI.
  • Helps interpret new regulatory guidance and operationalize it by collaborating with subject matter experts and identifying impact to ensure the Bank meets regulatory expectations.
  • Challenges subject matter experts recovery plan submissions in alignment with regulatory requirements and enterprise policies, guidelines, plans and standards.
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Plans, manages and reports on all Recovery Planning project plans.
  • Provides advice and counsel to international subsidiaries in the creation/updating of their own Recovery Plans.
  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Skills
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • University degree in business, accounting, finance or related discipline
  • PMP designation preferred
  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • Works in a team environment and interacts with subject matter experts from various departments (Group Treasury, Capital Management, Strategic Transactions and Review, amongst others), while providing exceptional customer service
  • Self-starter and highly motivated organized individual able to consistently deliver with limited supervision, including managing and organizing unstructured activities, without compromising on quality and timelines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong oral presentation skills, and proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong relationship management skills with ability to influence across cross functions
  • In-depth knowledge of funding and liquidity, capital management, finance, or mergers and acquisitions
  • Past experience managing large regulatory programs
