As a valued member of our team, reporting directly to the Manager, Human Resources, you will collaborate closely with a dynamic group of Human Resources Professionals.

What You'll Do
You'll act with integrity to:
  • Provide strategic and operational labour relations advice to leaders and HR partners.
  • Apply collective agreements and employment legislation consistently and equitably.
  • Lead procedurally sound workplace investigations, ensuring fairness, confidentiality, and thorough documentation.
  • Manage all stages of the grievance process, including representation at arbitrations, mediations, and hearings.
  • Contribute to collective bargaining through preparation, proposal development, negotiations, and implementation.
  • Monitor and analyze legal developments and labour trends to inform strategy and mitigate risk.
  • Demonstrate and promote the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality.

You'll support our collaboration as you:

  • Foster constructive, solutions-oriented relationships with union representatives.
  • Serve as a key liaison between management, HR, and union stakeholders on complex matters.
  • Partner with internal teams—including Legal Services and Disability Management—to ensure coordinated, compliant responses.
  • Actively participate in joint labour-management committees and other collaborative forums.
  • Design and deliver training for leaders and employees on labour relations topics and respectful workplace practices.
  • Support the development and implementation of HR policies and programs that drive consistency, compliance, and organizational values.
How You Qualify
You demonstrate excellence through your:
  • University degree in Human Resources, Labour/Industrial Relations, Law, or a related field.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation preferred.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in labour and employee relations, ideally within a unionized, public-sector environment.
  • Proven ability to manage grievances and arbitrations, conduct complex investigations, support collective bargaining, and represent the organization in formal dispute resolution settings, including mediations and Labour Relations Board proceedings.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ontario employment and labour legislation, with strong understanding of collective agreements, bargaining frameworks, grievance processes, and public sector compliance and governance.
  • Exceptional analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment and a high level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential matters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and diplomatically.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust, influence stakeholders, and collaborate effectively at all levels.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Political acuity and tact in navigating complex, sensitive, and high-stakes labour relations scenarios.
