The Opportunity:
The Recreation Worker reporting to the Executive Director or Recreation Manager assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates residents regarding recreation therapy.
The Recreation Worker will be assigned duties reflective of his/her level of education, preparation, demonstrated skill level, AgeCare policies and procedures and the Collaborative Care Model.
What Is In It For You:
- Assesses each resident to determine their needs, interests, and abilities in relation to leisure lifestyle involvement within the facility and community.
- Identifies goals and treatment plans and communicate same to members of the Interdisciplinary Team, Residents, and family.
- Communicates with all Recreation Assistants regarding Residents' Recreation Therapy Treatment Plan.
- Ensures that residents are involved in appropriate recreation activities to meet the goals of the Residents' Recreation Treatment Plan.
- Directs and assists Recreation Therapy Assistants with individual/group Resident leisure pursuits.
- Utilizes methods of documentation including charting and Recreation Therapy Department Assessments.
- Communicates information within Recreation Therapy Department and Interdisciplinary Team Conferences regarding Residents' performance, progress, and suitability in each program.
What You Will Need:
- Completion of Bachelor's degree or diploma in Recreation Therapy, Leisure Studies, from an accredited School/University of Recreation Therapy.
- Eligible for registration with Therapeutic Recreation Association e.g. ATRA.
- Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
- Previous Recreation Therapy experience in a health care facility preferred, experience in gerontology an asset.
Internal Closing Date: December 12, 2025
Hours of Work: Tuesday - Saturday from 8am-4pm
Approximate Start Date: March 23, 2026
