Role Summary

Alteris Consulting is seeking an experienced
Utilities Project Manager
to lead and deliver complex initiatives for utility clients. This role is responsible for managing end‑to‑end project delivery across business and technology programs, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget while meeting operational, regulatory, and stakeholder expectations.

The ideal candidate has proven experience managing large‑scale initiatives within
electric, gas, water, or wastewater utilities
, including asset management, operational improvement, infrastructure modernization, or enterprise system programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of utility‑focused projects across business and technology workstreams
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risks, issues, and dependencies
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, resource plans, and status reports
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client stakeholders, leadership teams, and executive sponsors
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams including operations, engineering, maintenance, IT, finance, and external vendors
  • Facilitate governance forums, steering committee meetings, and executive status updates
  • Ensure alignment with utility regulatory requirements, safety standards, and internal controls
  • Oversee delivery of initiatives related to:
  • Asset management and maintenance transformation
  • Operational process improvements
  • Infrastructure modernization programs
  • Enterprise system implementations or upgrades
  • Manage third‑party vendors and consultants to ensure quality delivery and accountability
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues
  • Manage change control processes and ensure scope alignment with business objectives
  • Support organizational change management, communications, and deployment planning
  • Promote best practices in project governance, delivery execution, and stakeholder engagement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 7+ years of project management experience
    , with demonstrated success in utility environments
  • Experience managing large‑scale utility initiatives such as:
  • Asset management or maintenance transformation programs
  • Infrastructure or capital delivery projects
  • Enterprise or operational system implementations
  • Strong understanding of asset‑intensive utility operations and regulatory environments
  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross‑functional, and multi‑vendor teams
  • Experience with structured project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, or hybrid)
  • Strong risk management, issue resolution, and change control capabilities
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and executive‑level presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and competing priorities
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred
