Role Overview

The Rehabilitation Support Professional plays a vital role in helping clients work toward their goals for recovery and independence. You'll provide hands-on support, motivation, and guidance through daily living activities, community engagement, and vocational reactivation while collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to clients in their homes, community, or rehabilitation settings.
  • Assist clients in achieving goals related to daily living, education, employment, and social participation.
  • Document and monitor client progress, adjusting supports to meet evolving needs.
  • Foster independence by connecting clients with community resources, job shadowing, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Reinforce therapeutic goals established by healthcare professionals (e.g., occupational therapy, speech therapy).
  • Promote privacy, confidentiality, and ethical standards in all client interactions.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in a related field (Education Assistant, Developmental Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker, Kinesiology, Social Work, Psychology, OTA/PTA) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting individuals with acquired brain injury or stroke in community or vocational settings.
  • Current or preferred certifications: RCSS (VRA Canada), OBIA Neurorehabilitation Certificate, First Aid/CPR, AODA, Health & Safety, CPI or Safe Management.
  • Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
  • Access to reliable transportation for community support
