The Human-Machine Interaction Lab unites global talents to redefine the relationship between humans and technology. Focused on innovation and user-centered design, the lab strives to advance human-computer interaction research. Our team includes researchers, engineers, and designers collaborating across disciplines to develop novel interactive systems, sensing technologies, wearable and IoT systems, human factors, computer vision, and multimodal interfaces. Through high-impact products and cutting-edge research, we aim to enhance user experiences and interactions with technology.


About the job:

  • Research and develop haptic feedback technologies that enable physically grounded interactions in embodied AI systems.

  • Design and conduct experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of haptic feedback for human-robot interaction, VR/AR, and other embodied applications.

  • Analyze and interpret data from experiments and use the results to improve tactile perception and control in physical or simulated agents.

  • Collaborate with other researchers, engineers, and designers to integrate haptic capabilities into robotic, virtual, and mixed-reality systems.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in embodied AI and haptic feedback technologies.

  • Publish research papers and patents to advance the field of haptic feedback and embodied interaction.

Job requirements

About the ideal candidate:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.

  • Strong background in signal processing, control systems, and tactile sensing for embodied agents.

  • Demonstrated experience in haptic feedback research applied to robotics, virtual/augmented reality, gaming, or healthcare, with a focus on physical interaction and embodied intelligence.

  • Experience conducting and incorporating user studies to evaluate tactile interactions in physical or simulated environments.

  • Experience modelling and controlling electromechanical systems, including Servo, Stepper, BLDC motors; FOC motor control is an asset.

  • Knowledge of haptic large model such as HapticVLM, HapticLLaM, HapticGen.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, MATLAB, and Python.

  • Strong publication record in haptic feedback, tactile perception, or embodied AI research.
