RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Girls, Youth and Family Programs contributes in setting the operational vision and planning of YWCA Toronto in the context of the Association's Mission Statement;
  • Directs the development of short and long-term girls, youth and family program plans in accordance with the overall goals and objectives and strategic plan of the Association;
  • Identifies the needs of the communities served and develops programs that respond to those needs through changes to existing programs, the development of new programs and/or the expansion into new areas;
  • Leads the implementation of Quality Framework initiatives related to Girls, Youth and Family Programs;

  • Collaborates in the development of strategic, comprehensive and cost-effective public relations, marketing, and fundraising plans to support the programs of the Association with the Director of Advocacy and Communications, the Director of Philanthropy, and relevant program managers;

  • Identifies opportunities for partnerships and collaboration with other organizations to ensure high quality, comprehensive and relevant programs.
  • Participates in the Association's rotating Director on-call schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Academic qualifications equivalent to a Master's degree in Social Work, Adult Education or other relevant discipline with over ten years directly related experience including experience at a senior management level; cases for equivalency considered
  • Alignment with YWCA Toronto's mission, vision and values including an understanding of and commitment to intersectional feminism;
  • Exceptional knowledge of girls, youth, and family support programs;
  • Exceptional knowledge and competency in working with diverse groups from an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed framework;
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, evaluation, and grant-writing skills required;
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in a unionized environment is required;
  • Knowledge of another culture and /or a second language would be an asset;
  • Advanced ability to research and analyze complex concepts; ability to think, strategically, to plan, organize and execute effectively;
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication and presentation skills;
  • Previous experience in a feminist social service environment would be an asset;

Note: Management Work Hours

While the standard work week is 35 hours, flexibility is required for management positions. Hours may exceed 35 per week based on operational demands. Management positions receive additional 70 hrs. overtime hours annually in accordance with the Management Hours of Work Policy.
