After School Program Recreational Leader

  • Plan, organize, and implement weekly programs for children aged 4 - 12
  • Assists in program-related administrative duties (attendance, calendar, menu, etc.)
  • Assists with program-specific special events and fundraising initiatives
  • Escorts children to and/or from school (on foot)
  • Supervises volunteers and/or placement students while in the program
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of the program participants at all times
  • Attends staff meetings, training's as required
  • Communicates and provides support to participants parents/caregivers
  • Ensures that all incidents/accidents are reported and required documentation forwarded immediately to the supervisor
  • Participates in and supports agency-wide special events and fundraising initiatives
  • Ensures an approach that displays a positive attitude, sensitivity, and understanding towards people of all abilities, backgrounds, and orientation
  • Carries out other duties as assigned
  • Must be available to work 3:00pm-6:00pm

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or still in school
  • Completed or in the process of obtaining Post-Secondary Education in Recreation, Social Services, Early Childhood Education or equivalent experience
  • Well-spoken English. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, long/short correspondence.
  • Able to efficiently and effectively plan and problem solve
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Flexibility, creativity and positive energy are required
  • High Five Certification is an asset
  • First Aid/CPR certification is required
  • Current police reference and vulnerable sector check is required

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $17.60 per hour
