Designer - Residential Construction

Job Summary
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Designer to join our dynamic team. The Designer is responsible for interpreting architectural designs and drawings and converting them into production drawings, in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and prepare production drawings for all structures with an emphasis on value engineering in preparation for the manufacturing process.
Operate computer assisted design software (SEMA) to produce detailed production drawings, specification sheets, material lists and machine data for CNC-production lines.
Maintain existing models to comply with new software releases and changes in standard procedures or solutions, changes to specs and errors or omissions.
Peer review of new models and drawings with regards to manufacturing restrictions, specification, design optimization and errors or omissions.
Coordinate with architectural drafters, floor and roof truss designers, production department, estimating, construction, plumbing, HVAC and electrical trades as well as affected departments for feedback on design, manufacturing and construction issues.
Support product development initiatives with regard to drafting implications.
Ensure design meets or exceeds the building code requirements.
Create job specific production drawings for walls in a timely manner. Create any other drawings for other home components as required.
Create framing layouts based on manufacturing requirements and construction standards for panelization and prefabrication of product.
Interpret information on plot plans with regards to construction requirements. Identify additional construction requirements if applicable.
Create all production drawings and CNC-files observing machine requirements and production restrictions in order to meet high quality and safety standards in the plant and the field and to optimize production.
Interpret information packages from customers, recognize errors, omissions and deficiencies and pursue further clarification as required.
Create material take offs/bill of materials as required. Provide material data required for estimates as required.
Additional duties and responsibilities as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Extensive framing experience in residential wood construction (minimum 5+ years)
Knowledge of new home construction and carpentry with an in depth understanding of the fundamentals of residential wood frame construction practices, techniques, and conventions.
Strong working knowledge of SEMA software
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to communicate technical information.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to think creatively.
Ability to solve abstract problems and propose solutions.
Ability to work with a team
Ability to work with timelines
Ability to operate a computer, knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office (including Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
Ability to read blueprints
Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
Ability to work unsupervised and be self-motivated
Results-oriented
Ability to work under pressure
Able to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including laborers, technical, professional and upper management
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED
Drafting Diploma and/or Certification in Carpentry
Experience in designing single family and/or multi-family projects.
Experience in working with and designing for CNC-operated machines.
Knowledge of building codes.
Demonstrated ability with 3D visualization software.
Good knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs such as Mitek, Javelin, Alpine, Revit and AutoCad.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The ability to sit and stand for long periods of time is required.
Arm and finger dexterity required to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
May be exposed to dust and high noise levels.· Overtime as required.
