Position Description
Fulger Transport Inc. is actively seeking to hire a new Safety Officer to help manage the safety of Fulger Transport's operations. The ideal candidate would be an educated safety professional with experience within the transportation industry. This individual would be an independent self-starter with the ability to act autonomously in a past paced environment. This position is largely rooted in both a safety and operational base as it will require various tasks related to both departments.
In order to succeed in this role, the successful candidate will need:
A deep understanding of the Logistics and Transportation Industry.
Experience and knowledge with Canadian insurance & safety regulations.
The ability to work effectively within a team and communicate directly with drivers.
The main tasks associated with this position include:
Manage the truck insurance program.
Participate in the Fulger Transport Safety Program including training, legislative compliance, and continuous improvement.
Work with the Safety Department to help ensure all departmental objectives are met.
Act as the first point of contact for drivers with questions or concerns.
Participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) ensuring that committee objectives are met.
Reviewing incident reports and conducting driver accident investigations.
Various types of reporting including CVOR maintenance, LMIA assessments, insurance claims, etc.
Participate and oversee driver recruitment while promoting driver retention.
Report directly to the Safety Manager.
Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience: This individual must have at least 1 year of safety experience and at least 2 years experience within the Transportation Industry.
Education: Highschool diploma is required. Post secondary education within safety or another relevant field would be considered an asset.
Skills:
Ability to work both independently and within a team.
Extremely organized and detail oriented.
Must possess a strong work ethic.
Demonstrated ability to lead a safety team.
Solid interpersonal skills.
Competent with the commercial vehicle claim process.
*This is a 12 month contract position to cover a maternity leave which has the potential of transitioning into a permanent role*
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
