Requirements:

  • Valid First aid/CPR (Kardel can provide this training)
  • Negative TB test
  • Must be 19 and over
  • Criminal record check (Kardel will submit this)
  • Class 5 BC driver's license
  • Personal vehicle
  • Experience with mental health and experience with individuals on the autism spectrum would be an asset

JOB SUMMARY

Organizes and implements social, recreational, educational and life skills activities and programs designed to meet the individual needs and interests of people being supported. Activities may take place within the individual's residence or in community settings.

· Supports and promotes respectful treatment of individuals and acknowledges individual rights, demonstrates a high degree of tolerance for the unique personalities and challenges of persons being supported.

· Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to accommodate day-to-day variations in support requirements.

· Promotes community inclusion.

· Interacts effectively with people being supported and promotes positive behavioural intervention strategies, follows programs and approaches in a consistent, competent manner, and deals with aggressive behaviors in a manner that will protect both persons supported and themselves.

· Maintains appropriate ethical boundaries in all interactions with people being supported.

· Supports individual to communicate needs, choices and preferences, and supports the use of inclusive communication strategies.

· Supports and promotes friendly and cooperative relationship with families of people being supported.

· Supports and promotes a friendly and cooperative relationship with co-workers; contributes to mutually supportive team atmosphere.

· Supports and promotes friendly and cooperative relationship with CLBC representatives.

· When in attendance, contributes positively to staff meetings, special events.

· To be aware of and adhere to Kardel policies and procedures.

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $25.09 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
