JOB DESCRIPTION: CNC MACHINIST

  • The Machinist's main responsibility is to ensure products are cut safely and accurately in accordance to the shop supplied drawings and cut files, with nesting as required. The CNC Machinist ensures the equipment is maintained and logged as outlined in policies and procedures.
  • Only candidates living in Mississauga, Toronto, or nearby areas will be considered.
  • Applicants from other countries will not be considered.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpret engineering drawings or study sample parts to determine and plan CNC operation.
  • Confirm cut files match the parameters of the signed shop drawings supplied by Engineering, including sizes, quantities, dimensions, tolerances and colors.
  • Reference or create CNC cut files using applicable software program I-Carve, Rhino, SolidWorks, or similar programs as required.
  • Nest parts use the CNC software in the best possible configuration to optimize material yield.
  • Operate the CNC machines in a safe and effective manner, including the loading and unloading of materials from the CNC.
  • Verify cut dimensions of materials match engineered drawings using calipers and/or measuring tape as required.
  • Update the production tracking software with project status as products are cut.
  • Perform basic daily and weekly preventative maintenance on the CNC machines.
  • Perform replacement and/or alteration of selected parts (i.e. blades, oscillating head, etc..) as required using hand or power tools as required.
  • Identify flawed raw materials prior to cutting and report deficiencies to the Supervisor.
  • Keep work area clean and tidy, remove waste and cuts from production area.
  • Good communication skills in English are required.

  • Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the assembly and labeling of the products as required.
  • Assist with packaging of the finished product as required.
  • Ensure waste bins are available for pick-up based on the weekly schedule.
  • Request tools and supplies to the Supervisor as needed.
  • Perform additional assignments per management's direction.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
