Acuren is currently recruiting for a CAD Technician for supporting operations in the Atalntic Region, Saint John NB. If you are seeking a dynamic industrial environment with opportunities for individual growth and learning, this is for you.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful applicant will primarily focus on CAD work but will also be required to travel to major maintenance shutdowns and turnaround projects to provide field resource support. This support may include CAD drafting, word processing, data entry, and data analysis.
This role combines responsibilities across CAD, field resource support, and basic computer/IT services, requiring a broad and adaptable skill set.
- Creating/editing 2D drawings for inspection use and reports. Drawings range from simple to advanced.
- Data entry and analysis of boiler ultrasonic thickness readings.
- Provide CAD services, on site at various worksites (typically pulp mills and gas plants) throughout BC & Alberta.
- Minor computer software/hardware troubleshooting as required.
- Miscellaneous administrative tasks as required.
- Provide general office & technical support to personnel in the field / branch offices.
- Assisting with computer network duties such as daily backup of shutdown network files and archiving data as required.
Technical Skills
Intermediate to advanced 2D drafting experience in AutoCAD (currently using AutoCAD LT 2020).
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (2003 or later).
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Basic computer hardware knowledge with the ability and willingness to develop these skills further.
Communication & Organizational Skills
Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

- Ability to adapt quickly to changing schedules and workloads.
- Ability to learn new skills, multitask, and perform well under pressure.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license (successful applicants must provide a driver's abstract).
- Ability to work weekends and out-of-town as required (long hours with limited days off for several weeks; overtime is paid).
