Building Operator – 6-Month Contract (Evenings & Weekends)
Location: Citi Plaza, London, Ontario
Schedule: Thursday – Sunday, 4:00 PM to Midnight
Wage: $25 per hour
Reports To: Facilities Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable Building Operator for a 6-month contract to support evening and weekend operations at Citi Plaza in downtown London. This role focuses on minor maintenance, assisting with after-hours service calls, interior plant care, seasonal tasks, and supporting the operation of the parking systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform minor maintenance tasks, including lighting changes, light painting, minor plumbing (such as clearing drains or tightening fittings), replacing ceiling tiles, minor drywall patching, and other small general upkeep activities.
- Assist with after-hours service calls, responding to tenant concerns and coordinating support when required.
- Support the parking systems, including basic troubleshooting, assisting customers, and reporting issues.
- Conduct routine walkthroughs and inspections, including checking mechanical and electrical rooms for leaks, unusual noises, or other visible issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop, ensuring tools and supplies are properly stored and inventoried.
- Assist contractors by providing access, escorting them to required areas, and helping identify equipment rooms or panels.
- Perform basic winter tasks such as applying salt to entrances when required.
- Perform interior plant upkeep, including watering, pruning, and general care of indoor greenery.
- In summer, complete minor landscaping, including weeding and applying mulch to designated outdoor areas.
- Report larger issues requiring contractor or daytime staff attention to the Facilities Manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in general maintenance, lighting work, painting, minor plumbing, or facility support preferred.
- Familiarity with parking systems or customer service roles is an asset.
- Strong communication and basic troubleshooting skills.
- Physically capable of performing manual tasks (lifting, bending, climbing ladders, walking).
- A self-starter and able to work on their own.
- Reliable and available for the scheduled hours: Thursday–Sunday, 4 PM–Midnight.
