Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada's only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets.

As a Regulatory, Summer Student with Trans Mountain, you'll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and fast-paced group of Regulatory experts. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in the Tolls and Tariffs group supporting tolling applications and regulatory processes. 

This position is based in our Calgary office and will report to the Team Lead, Economic Analysis.

Duration: May 4, 2026, to August 21, 2026.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in pipeline and storage rate making initiatives, including financial modelling and analysis.Prepare and compile regulatory submissions that comply with regulatory/legislated requirements to support the safe, environmentally sound and economic operation of the pipeline.Undertake regulatory research and analysis on emerging regulatory topics in the areas of toll/rate making, facilities applications, operational requirements, and summarize findings and recommendations as they pertain to Trans Mountain.Help to support analysis, assessment and communication of new legal requirements.Provide support for internal (management) and external (regulator) reporting where needed.Maintain regulatory documentation, filing systems, spreadsheets, databases, etc. Assist with other team functions and provide support as necessary.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

Enrolled in a finance, economics, legal or business program with an accredited institution, preferably students going into their third or fourth year.Analytical mindset with demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.A self-starter that approaches challenges with mental tenacity and ability to overcome resistance and competing priorities.Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) products.Understanding of basic regulatory economic concepts and highly developed research and writing/communication skills.Must be a team player with a positive attitude.Organized, self-starter who is able to work in a team environment either in the office or remotely.Strong attention to detail and deadline oriented.Must be flexible and adaptable to change.Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, writing, problem solving and organizational skills.

Other Requirements and Information

Must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution and return to full time studies in the fall.

The expected pay range for this position is $24.61 to $33.48 CAD.
