The Accreditation and Quality Assurance Manager plays a key role in advancing the Faculty of Medicine's accreditation and continuous quality improvement efforts. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Priorities and Policy Development, the Manager provides leadership, coordination, and oversight for all activities related to maintaining and securing accreditation for the development of a Joint UPEI–Memorial MD Program.

The incumbent ensures compliance with the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) standards and elements, manages evidence-based reporting and data systems, and supports the integration of quality assurance principles across all medical education functions. This role requires exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives in a high-stakes academic environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the design, implementation, and continuous monitoring of accreditation and quality assurance frameworks for the Faculty of Medicine's regional and joint MD programs, ensuring alignment with the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) standards and institutional expectations
  • Serve as the primary institutional liaison with CACMS, Memorial University Faculty of Medicine, and other external bodies, facilitating effective communication, coordination, and documentation of all accreditation-related activities
  • Develop and manage comprehensive accreditation processes, including the preparation of self-studies, data collection instruments, assessment plans, and evidence repositories to demonstrate compliance with CACMS standards and elements
  • Integrate accreditation and quality assurance principles into the Faculty's academic and administrative planning, policy development, and evaluation frameworks to support a culture of continuous improvement
  • Conduct systematic reviews of accreditation standards and elements, assessing institutional performance and recommending strategies to address gaps, strengthen compliance, and enhance educational outcomes
  • Lead the development and administration of evaluation frameworks and performance indicators that measure student learning outcomes, curricular effectiveness, and overall program quality
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to inform decision-making, ensuring the reliability, validity, and integrity of data used in accreditation reports and internal reviews
  • Design and maintain data management systems, dashboards, and repositories to organize accreditation documentation, institutional metrics, and evidence of compliance for internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare high-quality written reports, briefing notes, and presentations that summarize accreditation progress, identify risks, and highlight priority actions for the Dean and Faculty leadership
  • Collaborate closely with academic and administrative units, faculty members, students, and external partners to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and shared accountability in meeting accreditation and quality standards
  • Contribute to the development, revision, and implementation of academic policies, procedures, and governance structures that ensure adherence to accreditation standards and institutional goals
  • Monitor national and international trends in medical education, accreditation, and quality assurance to identify best practices and emerging innovations applicable to UPEI's context
  • Participate in professional and scholarly activities related to accreditation and medical education, supporting the Faculty's academic mission and reputation for excellence
  • Support research and evaluation initiatives related to competency-based education, program evaluation, and academic quality improvement

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate must have:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Public Policy and Administration, Education, or Applied Health Sciences)
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in accreditation, quality assurance, or project management within higher education or healthcare
  • Experience working with regulatory or accreditation agencies, preferably CACMS or equivalent
  • Demonstrated success managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Experience in medical education or healthcare settings is considered an asset
  • In-depth understanding of accreditation standards, processes, and evidence management
  • Strong analytical and data management skills, including use of statistical and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, SPSS, R, Tableau)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information
  • Advanced organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated capacity to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and independence
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external partners
