Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Snow Plow Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient snow removal operations during winter weather conditions. This role requires a strong understanding of snow removal techniques and the ability to operate snow plowing equipment effectively.
Duties
- Operate snow plows and other related equipment to clear snow from roads, parking lots, and sidewalks.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance, including the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Monitor weather conditions and assess snow accumulation to determine necessary action.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate snow removal efforts efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment used during each shift.
- Operators are expected to be available 24 hrs/day 7 day a week at anytime a snow/ice event occurs on site.
- Ability to document and report any obstacles at site(s)
- Accurately document site service records for each and every site including times, services performed, weather conditions etc.
- Submit paperwork and documentation promptly at the end of each shift.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Be available for communication at all times during a shift and before/after shifts.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
Requirements
- Proven experience in operating heavy machinery, particularly loaders, skid steers and snow plows.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating snowplows and/or snowplow equipment.
- Documentation knowledge of: driver logbook; pre-trip and post-trip inspections; maintenance and repair reports; and trip reports.
- Excellent observation skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Carry and use a smart phone or data-enabled device for communication and reporting.
- Ability to read and interpret maps.
- Speak, read, and write English.
- Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
- Ability to follow safe working procedures.
