Note: This position may work out of the Kitchener West or Hamilton Probation and Parole offices.

About the job

In this role, you will:

  • prepare and maintain budget forecasts
  • track and project monthly expenditures
  • use financial information systems, working with regional office and enterprise services partners to address issues and respond to finance related requests
  • review expense reports and invoices for accuracy of coding and information
  • create and maintain documents, spreadsheets and various financial reports
  • provide advice and guidance to managers and staff on pay and benefits and human resources
  • apply polices and legislation, accessing Ontario Public Service resources to resolve problems and ensuring accurate information is provided
  • prepare and maintain relevant personnel, attendance and payroll related documents using WIN and providing support to managers and staff, proactively addressing and resolving problems that arise
  • prepare and process area program contracts and oversee reporting and financial compliance per contract management policies and procedures
  • maintain accurate and up-to-date records, while keeping strict confidentiality
  • provide support services for the management team
What you bring to the team
Financial and Human Resources Expertise:
  • You have experience in financial administration, estimating and budgeting.
  • You have analytical and problem solving skills to resolve discrepancies and to ensure accuracy of financial and human resources documents and information.
  • You have an understanding of collective agreements, directives, legislation and policies to provide interpretations, advice, guidance and application on financial services, human resources and contract management.
  • You have knowledge of computerized databases, human resources and financial information systems.
General Administrative Skills:
  • You have effective communication and interpersonal skills to provide support services for the management team
  • You can maintain confidentiality and ensure information is only shared as appropriate.
  • You have reasoning skills and can work independently, prioritizing your work to perform a variety of tasks with conflicting deadlines.
  • You have skills in developing and working with spreadsheets and word processing software packages.
  • You have knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
