Position Overview

Autodesk is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Principal Software Engineer in Test to join the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Platform Data team In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team working to deliver the services that power the data infrastructure of Autodesk's existing and future AEC products. This opportunity is for you if you are excited by the idea of transforming how AEC professionals use data to capture knowledge, inform decisions, and deliver projects.

In this role, you will work closely with software developers, product owners, and other QA and SETs to design and build test automation. You will ensure cloud services can be deployed frequently with minimal effort and high quality. You will own and drive initiatives related to improving quality, stability, reliability and usability of your team's software deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with developers, QA analysts and SETs to identify and prioritize testing strategies where test automation best achieves the testing goals

  • Design and implement test automation suites

  • Assist team evaluate risk, quality, and/or stability on individual stories, initiatives, sprints, product milestones, and services

  • Collaborate with software developers to support, test and document APIs.  Ensure APIs are usable, complete (including sample code and documentation) and adhere to standards

  • Mentor and provide direction to less experienced testers

  • Collaborate with development and architecture teams to influence the architecture and design of software and help bring quality into the design of the product

  • Collaborate with other technical staff on the implementation, deployment and maintenance of the Automation Testing pipeline within Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines

  • Actively participate in global or cross-functional teams

  • Fully participate in community benefiting development by sharing best practices, lessons learned, code, techniques or tools

  • Participate in test estimation and ensure automated testing is accounted for in planning or acceptance criteria

  • Clearly document, manage, and prioritize defects from multiple sources

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field

  • 8+ years experience in software industry including design and development of test automation suites for cloud services with focus on building high quality test automation used in CI/CD pipelines

  • Experience with backend Automation Testing on Java and Spring boot

  • Experience developing cloud services in AWS is desired

  • Experience with some of the following tools is desired: Blazemeter, JMeter, Cypress, Cucumber JVM, Postman, Wiremock, Rest Assured, Pact, BurpSuite

  • Experience working on a scrum team developing cloud services

  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues across different time zones which may require limited work outside normal working hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using AI powered IDEs (Cursor, Copilot agent mode etc)

Responsabilités

  • Collaborer avec les développeurs, les analystes QA et les SET afin d'identifier et de hiérarchiser les stratégies de test où l'automatisation des tests permet d'atteindre au mieux les objectifs de test

  • Concevoir et mettre en œuvre des suites d'automatisation des tests

  • Assister l'équipe dans l'évaluation des risques, de la qualité et/ou de la stabilité des récits individuels, des initiatives, des sprints, des étapes importantes du produit et des services.

  • Collaborer avec les développeurs de logiciels pour prendre en charge, tester et documenter les API. Veiller à ce que les API soient utilisables, complètes (y compris les exemples de code et la documentation) et conformes aux normes

  • Encadrer et orienter les testeurs moins expérimentés

  • Collaborer avec les équipes de développement et d'architecture afin d'influencer l'architecture et la conception des logiciels et de contribuer à la qualité de la conception du produit.

  • Collaborer avec d'autres membres du personnel technique à la mise en œuvre, au déploiement et à la maintenance du pipeline de tests d'automatisation dans le cadre des pipelines d'intégration continue/de déploiement continu

  • Participer activement à des équipes mondiales ou interfonctionnelles

  • Participer pleinement au développement de la communauté en partageant les meilleures pratiques, les leçons apprises, le code, les techniques ou les outils

  • Participer à l'estimation des tests et s'assurer que les tests automatisés sont pris en compte dans les critères de planification ou d'acceptation

  • Documenter, gérer et hiérarchiser clairement les défauts provenant de multiples sources

Qualifications minimales requises

  • Licence en informatique ou dans un domaine technique connexe

  • Plus de 8 ans d'expérience dans l'industrie du logiciel, y compris la conception et le développement de suites de tests automatisés pour les services cloud, avec un accent particulier sur la création de tests automatisés de haute qualité utilisés dans les pipelines CI/CD

  • Expérience des tests d'automatisation backend sur Java et Spring Boot

  • Une expérience dans le développement de services cloud dans AWS est souhaitée

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $104,000 and $143,000. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
