With a portfolio spanning Metro Vancouver, North Vancouver, and Greater Victoria, we specialize in large-scale residential and commercial communities, with a focus on community enhancing, purpose-built rental housing. Our portfolio includes market condominiums, affordable homeownership, strata commercial, and hotel developments.

We partner with leading institutions and organizations such as BC Housing and YWCA Metro Vancouver to deliver inclusive, community-focused housing solutions. To date, we've completed over 1.3 million square feet and nearly 1,400 homes, with a pipeline of 2,000 more homes and half a million square feet of commercial space. By 2030, we're on track to be managing and operating over 3,000 homes across Vancouver, North Vancouver, and Victoria.

What sets Chard apart is our full-spectrum approach. We not only develop projects, we also manage and operate them. Through our property and asset management services - available to both our own developments and those of other developers - we ensure long-term value and care for the communities we help create and foster.

Our close-knit, dynamic team thrives on collaboration, trust, and care. We're proud of our high-performance culture and deeply committed to the Residents we serve and the communities we build.

At Chard, our purpose is Beyond Buildings. We create spaces that enrich lives, strengthen communities, and make a positive impact on people and places.

Our promise is Uncommon Care. We go beyond expectations to create communities where people feel safe, valued, and connected.

Our Values

  • Community – We put our Residents and our team at the heart of every decision.
  • No Ego – We value effort and humility over flashiness.
  • Service – We provide exceptional service in every interaction.
  • Integrity – We operate with honesty and transparency.

The 5 Keys to Service at Chard: Safety, Charm, Detail, Efficiency, Belonging

What This Role Is All About

We're looking for a skilled and service-driven Building Services Supervisor to lead and support a team of building operators and maintenance technicians. In this role, you'll oversee day-to-day building operations, ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks, and play a key role in delivering well-maintained, high-performing properties across our portfolio. You'll be the bridge between technical work and team leadership—providing support in the field while helping your team grow and thrive.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supervise and support the work of building services staff at a Chard property and facilitate cross-functional collaboration among operational teams.
  • Coordinate daily, weekly, and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, etc.) are operating safely and efficiently.
  • Promote continuous improvement, adaptability, and innovation in maintenance operations
  • Supervise community maintenance and suite turnovers, ensuring standards, quality checks, and move-in readiness.
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, with a focus on safety, responsiveness, and professionalism.
  • Support budgeting, purchase orders, cost control, and contract negotiation to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC, BC Building Code, BC Fire Code, electrical and gas regulations, and internal safety policies.
  • Respond to escalated maintenance issues and support troubleshooting of complex problems while maintaining detailed records in digital platforms
  • Monitor and report on building system performance and help identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead the training, mentoring, and onboarding of new team members.
  • Liaise with property managers and other stakeholders to support smooth building operations and strong tenant satisfaction.
  • Manage vendor relationships and warranty processes, ensuring vendor performance expectations and warranty conditions are met.
  • Maintain accurate records using CMMS and ensure compliance with applicable codes, health and safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and coordinate emergency response as needed.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems and environments to assess trends and ensure energy efficiency

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in building maintenance, with at least 1–2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety.
  • Familiarity with BMS/automation systems and CMMS platforms.
  • Experience using Yardi, Grata or other similar software
  • Experience working in residential, commercial, or mixed-use buildings.
  • Strong working knowledge of health and safety regulations and building codes.
  • Trade certification or Building Operator designation (BOMA, BOMI, FMA, etc.) is an asset.
  • Class 5 driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Who You Are

  • A hands-on leader who leads by example and takes pride in doing things right the first time.
  • Skilled in a range of building systems and able to support troubleshooting and repairs across disciplines.
  • Organized and proactive, with strong follow-through and attention to detail.
  • Calm under pressure and comfortable balancing field work with team supervision.
  • A clear communicator who values respect, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Committed to delivering high-quality service in every interaction—with Residents, teammates, and contractors.

How We Invest In You

At Chard, we know that when our people thrive, our communities do too. That's why we offer more than just a paycheque - we invest in your success, well-being, and sense of purpose.

  • Competitive salary and bonus plans aligned with market benchmarks and your experience.
  • Extended health and dental coverage as well as a health spending account to support what you need the most
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities, including custom programs built around our Uncommon Care philosophy
  • A clear commitment to internal mobility - we love to promote from within
  • A values-driven workplace rooted in trust, transparency, and teamwork
  • A supportive team that has your back when things get busy - or when you need a breather

The salary range for this role is between $80,000-$90,000 per year based on candidate experience.
