Electro-Optical Technologist

Meta Vision Sensors designs and manufactures high performance, 3D laser profile sensors and systems used in machine and robot guidance and inspection applications ). We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated, Electro-Optical Technologist with experience in precision optical, mechanical, and electronics assembly tasks for work with our Montreal (St-Laurent) based production team to assist in the assembly and testing of the company's class-leading, laser profile sensors. The position requires a high degree of manual dexterity to perform detailed assembly work while ensuring exceptional quality standards are met in the assembly and testing of sophisticated electro-optic assemblies. The candidate must be a team-player and able to read and comprehend technical drawings and written instructions as well as follow verbal direction as necessary, in French and English.
Your responsibilities
- Assembly and testing of optical, mechanical and electronic components following a bill of material and assembly drawing, with high levels of quality
- Perform quality checks on components and assembled / completed items
- Verify adherence to specifications and requirements with in-process and final inspection
- Be receptive to mentoring. Participate in developing new approaches and techniques to achieve continuous improvement in all work processes
- Perform as a member of a technical team to plan and set priorities and to see projects through to completion
- Work independently and take initiative while complying with processes in place.
Your background
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, hands-on in a production environment
- College degree or diploma in electronics or an appropriate field is preferred
- Strong learning skills
- Ability to thoroughly understand electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings
- High level of autonomy, responsibility and versatility
- Excellent manual dexterity, able to assemble / handle mechanical, electrical and optical components.
- Strong concern for quality and efficiency
- Proven soldering skills and knowledge of electro-optic component types and electronic assembly processes
