DRIVER JOB DESCRIPTION
All employees must know and understand the job description, qualification requirements and management expectations for their position. All employees must know and understand their responsibilities with respect to Pedre's Occupational Health and Safety Program.
Job Description
A Driver is responsible for operating a heavy truck and pony. The Driver must also clean, inspect, maintain, and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies and procedures.
Qualification Requirements
· Minimum 3 years experience driving truck and pony.
· Must have a valid BC Class 1 license with a clean abstract.
· Be capable of maneuvering vehicle in tight quarters with heavy traffic.
· Must pass a company road test and pre trip inspection.
Duties and Responsibilities
Safely and professionally operate vehicle; must demonstrate expertise with all mechanical components of equipment operation and maintenance.
Perform daily inspections of equipment components as required to complete pre/ post trip daily log.
Grease all points on the truck a minimum of once a week.
Report upcoming service needs to the Shop Foreman prior to the due date.
Inform Shop Foreman 30 days prior to the Motor Vehicle Inspection expiration date.
Inform Shop Foreman immediately of breakdowns or the potential of breakdowns.
Keep vehicle cab maintained and clean.
Keep the boxes, tailgate, and asphalt gate clean at all times.
Immediately report all accidents to the dispatcher and CSO. Accident reports must be completed at the time of the accident. If accident is a MVA, make sure all necessary information is exchanged such as registration, owner name and address, license plate, driver 's license number, name of the party, description of the scene, witness, pictures and any other relevant information. An incident investigation must be done with the CSO the same day the accident occurs
Must be knowledgeable with all gravel pits, scales, dump sites, etc. Must be able to read maps.
Watch hired trucks and report them to the Foreman and Dispatch if they are not taking correct routes or stopping along the way.
A separate timesheet should be filled out for hours worked to complete maintenance items such as greasing and transporting the truck for changing the oil and repairs.
Drivers are paid from the time the dump truck arrives at a job empty or arrives at a pit to obtain materials in the morning. Each normal day shift will continue until the driver is signed-off by the Foremen in charge.
Be polite and accommodating to all customers, co- workers, inspectors, provincial and municipal authorities, and the general public at all times.
Use company communication equipment for business use only, as well as in a reasonable and professional manner.
Have a firm understanding and adhere to Pedre's Occupational Health and Safety System.
Comply with Safe Work Procedures outlined in Occupational Health and Safety manual and respective WCB requirements.
Management Expectations.
· Willing to take part in additional specialty training for tools, equipment, instruments, and safety.
· Should be able to receive instructions and be left alone to complete the task in a timely and professional manner.
· Clearly understand the job description and perform their responsibilities adequately.

Pay: $30.83-$35.00 per hour
