The Opportunity

Working with and reporting to the Supervisor of Accounting Services, Horizon School Division is seeking a dynamic and intuitive individual to join our accounting team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Demonstrated knowledge of basic accounting fundamentals with experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable;
• Strong problem solving skills;
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information;
• Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills;
• Computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency in Excel;

Education, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

• Possesses a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable and maintenance of general ledgers.
• Experience in the public sector would be considered an asset.
• Combination of 3-5 years of relevant post-secondary education and experience
• Commitment to continuous learning and motivation for personal growth.

Education, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

• Possesses an Undergraduate Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Holding or working towards a professional accounting designation (CPA) would be an asset; an equivalent combination of practical training and experience would be considered.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• Possesses a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Strong working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable and maintenance of general ledgers.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to lead a team.
• Experience with ERP systems would be considered an asset.
• Experience in the public sector and application of PSAB would be considered an asset.

This position will commence on a mutually agreed upon date. Interviews will be scheduled once a suitable pool of candidates is established.
