Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sonographer to join our healthcare team at our 97th ST and St Albert locations. As a Sonographer, you will be integral to delivering high-quality patient care through your expertise in ultrasound equipment. Reporting to the lead technologist, your primary responsibilities will include operating ultrasound equipment, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining equipment. Your strong communication skills will enhance collaboration with healthcare professionals and improve patient experiences. By leveraging your knowledge and skills, you will contribute to the efficient operation of our medical facility, playing a vital role in the diagnostic process and patient outcomes. Duties

  • Explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and ensure their comfort during the exam.
  • Maintain clinical documentation and records by using medical information systems.
  • Follow established protocols to guarantee the security and comfort of patients during examinations.
  • Position the patient and operate the ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality images of the specified body parts.
  • Review and evaluate the images for quality and to identify abnormalities.
  • Provide preliminary findings to the physician.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and medical notes, and ensure images are transmitted to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Maintains a sterile and clean examination area and replenishes the procedure room as needed.
  • Acts quickly to address odd situations, anomalous results, or issues involving patients and equipment.
  • Verifies that standard equipment is calibrated, functions as intended, and has been properly disinfected.
  • Work closely with physicians, technologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • From time to time, assist with procedures like ultrasound-guided injections.
  • Takes part in and helps to maintain the programs for quality control and assurance.
  • Complies with and contributes to the creation of policies, processes, and guidelines.
  • Always upholds and respects patient confidentiality.
  • Delivers top-notch patient care in every circumstance.

Schedule

  • Scheduled shifts are within our hours of operation: 8 AM - 8 PM, Monday-Saturday
  • 8 hour shifts, 5 days/week

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge

  • Previous experience in in General, OBS, MSK, Vascular Ultrasound.
  • Echocardiogram experience would be an asset.
  • Experience in patient care and safety protocols.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology is essential for effective communication within the healthcare team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and provide exceptional patient care.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are critical for maintaining accurate records and ensuring patient safety.

  • Member of Sonography Canada, ARMDS.
  • Proficiency in using ultrasound equipment and understanding human anatomy and pathophysiology.
