Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned
Senior Legal Counsel
to join our legal team, reporting directly to the General Counsel. This role offers a dynamic blend of commercial and transactional responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on contract negotiation and drafting, regulatory compliance, acquisitions, joint ventures, policies, corporate governance, and intellectual property. The ideal candidate will bring a pragmatic, business-oriented approach to legal counsel and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements with suppliers, customers, and joint venture partners
  • Manage the full contract lifecycle, including execution, documentation, document management, renewals, and terminations
  • Advise on regulatory compliance matters, including health and safety and environmental regulations
  • Provide legal support for corporate transactions, including due diligence, negotiation, deal documentation, and post-deal integration
  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to mitigate legal and regulatory risks
  • Support corporate governance activities, including preparation of board and committee materials, and maintenance of corporate documentation and records
  • Support intellectual property matters, including trademarks, licensing, and patents
  • Support business teams to provide practical, commercial legal advice
  • Manage and coordinate matters with external counsel

Qualifications & Experience

  • LLB or JD from an accredited law school
  • Member in good standing with a provincial law society
  • 7+ years of legal experience in an established law firm and/or in-house legal department, with a strong focus on commercial and transactional matters
  • Demonstrated experience in cross-border commercial matters, with a preference for candidates familiar with both Canadian and U.S. commercial matters
  • Prior experience supporting manufacturing or industrial operations is an asset
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and provide clear, practical legal advice to business stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and solutions-oriented mindset
