SUMMARY

The role of the Special Education Technician is to create a climate of trust in order to provide the necessary help to the residents and facilitate their integration into their new living environment. Among other things, they will observe and analyze the behaviors of the residents, participate in the assessment of their needs, develop an intervention plan to promote their adaptation, facilitate individual and/or group activities and carry out periodic evaluations to monitor these individuals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate new residents and perform initial assessment with regards to behavioral issues.
  • Provide and implement intervention strategies and plans that promote the well-being and adaptation of residents.
  • Collaborate with coworkers, volunteers, entertainers or others to organize beneficial activities.
  • Actively participate in interdisciplinary meetings for residents.
  • Inform and supervise students and volunteers working in the department.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College diploma (DEC) in Special Education Techniques
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and French. This position requires English to meet residents' needs, who are primarily anglophone
  • Two years of experience, an asset

RÉSUMÉ DU POSTE

Le rôle du technicien en éducation spécialisée est de créer un climat de confiance afin d'apporter l'aide nécessaire aux résidents et de faciliter leur intégration dans leur nouveau milieu de vie. Entre autres, il observe et analyse les comportements des résidents, participe à l'évaluation de leurs besoins, élabore un plan d'intervention pour favoriser leur adaptation, anime des activités individuelles et/ou de groupe et procède à des évaluations périodiques pour assurer le suivi de ces personnes.

RESPONSABILITÉS

  • Évaluer les nouveaux résidents et effectuer une évaluation initiale en ce qui concerne les problèmes. comportementaux.
  • Fournir et mettre en œuvre des stratégies et des plans d'intervention qui favorisent le bien-être et l'adaptation des résidents.
  • Collaborer avec des collègues, des bénévoles, des animateurs ou d'autres personnes pour organiser des activités bénéfiques.
  • Participer activement aux réunions interdisciplinaires pour les résidents.
  • Informer et superviser les étudiants et les bénévoles travaillant dans le département.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC) en en techniques d'éducation spécialisée
  • Maîtrise de l'anglais et du français écrits et parlés. Ce poste requiert l'anglais pour répondre aux besoins des résidents, qui sont majoritairement anglophones
  • Deux années d'experiences, un atout

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $24.78-$35.67 per hour
