The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Data Analytics Engineer for a 12-month term to join our Data Analytics team. Reporting to the Supervisor, Advanced Analytics, this role will be responsible for leading the development of advanced analytics and projects that drive strategic decision-making across the organization. The successful candidate will combine their deep technical expertise with strong business acumen to enable complex data into actionable insights. This role will play a key part in expanding ARC's analytics capabilities while fostering a data-driven culture and supporting the growth and development of team members.
Responsibilities
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
- Foster company-wide data literacy by building connections across business functions and mentoring staff in analytics and storytelling
- Support teams in identifying, developing, and managing data analytics projects, products, and tools, including business process engineering and data governance activities
- Unlock value from existing data assets through multidisciplinary collaboration across the organization
- Provide technical support to business teams on data projects, including creating and promoting SQL queries/views and supporting data exploration and analysis
Analytics Project Owner
- Translate business challenges into modern data and analytics solutions that drive value
- Advance and measure the impact of ARC's Data Analytics portfolio, aligning with business objectives, track this impact through key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Support change management efforts to integrate analytics solutions into existing business processes
- Coordinate and evaluate new data analytics opportunities, framing them into actionable requirements
- Manage and prioritize the analytics project queue, ideate and prototype innovations, and assist in designing new data structures
- Identify and mitigate project risks, coordinate testing, and validate solutions with business users
- Explore and submit government grant applications to support analytics funding
- Build prototype dashboards and operationalize high-impact dashboards that cannot be managed by subject matter experts due to workload
What You Will Bring To Arc
- A bachelor's, master's, or PhD in data science, computer science, statistics, engineering, or a related field, with a preference for those who possess a P.Eng. designation or advanced degrees
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- At least 5 years of experience in data science, with a strong understanding of analytical methodologies
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and machine learning frameworks
- Experience using Databricks to support scalable data science workflows
- Exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated ability to engage stakeholder effectively
- A collaborative working style and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
